Letter to the Editor - Asia Pacific Youth Hockey League
by Mike Condon
(Boston)
Hi Kevin my name is Mike Condon I am the owner of the Boston Jr Rangers Hockey Club (www.JrRangers.com) and I am working with members of our league to develop an Asian Pacific youth hockey league (www.AsiaPacificHockey.com) in an effort to expand hockey in Asia. Knowing that Japan leads the way in Asian hockey, I was hoping you might be willing to help us with some information regarding teams and organizations within Japan. It is very difficult to gather this type of info without a Japanese connection.
Our goal with the APHL is to develop the game in Asia, so we are looking for any program from U10 all the way to U20 that would be interested. There will be no cost to be a member program and in fact the more programs we recruit the greater the opportunity for sponsorships and equipment donations (for the poorer countries). The Asia Pacific Hockey League will schedule events/tournaments that include both games and hockey skills training. We will also work with the coaches to assist them with their programs. We feel that this will be of great assistance to the players and their individual programs. We are also interested in working with existing event organizers to add that layer of training and coaching education that is currently missing. We don't want to compete against anyone, we want to compliment existing programs and events, thus helping them to expand their programs and ultimately the game of hockey in Asia.
If you cannot help, maybe you could direct me to someone. As you know the hockey fraternity is far reaching and thanks for covering hockey in Japan for those of us who cannot read Japanese! Mike Condon
