Japan People

Japan People: Fred Stuhr talks about his experiences with Japanese people and his time living in Japan. He describes the people of Japan and Tokyo.

(Pictured: Sagano Pathway)

We lived in various parts of Japan including Tokyo. In Tokyo we lived in Mitaka. Tokyo is an experience in itself. I liked not needing to have a car as trains and subways will take you anywhere you need to go.

I have only been back to Japan once since we left. That visit was in 1986 and Tokyo had changed, more greenery in the medians of roads, so I think by now 2010 there must have been many changes that I am not aware of. So it is difficult for me to comment on what my communities were like in the 70's.

What sort of challenges did you have to overcome while living in Japan?

Language.

What were some of your interesting or positive experiences while there?

Overall, the Japanese people are a unique group. One on one friendships will prove to be wonderful lifetime commitments.

Is daily life easier in Japan or in your country?

I am not sure anymore... lol

What should people bring from home before going to Japan?

Clothing that is big enough as sometimes larger people have trouble finding big sizes in Japan.

Patience in dealing with large crowds.

Bring lots of money!! lol

Japanese People

As Stuhr summarizes, the Japanese people are an interesting lot and can make very loyal friends. Here is more on Japan people, some of the friends I have made.
