Japan Ice Hockey
Japan Ice Hockey: I scold the other media outlets here for the largely non-existent reporting on ice hockey in Japan. Ice hockey is such a great game and Japan has a lot of good players and a great little pro league, The Asian League. The AL has teams in China, South Korea and Japan, and boasts players from all over the world. Moreover, it always has some former NHL and European League players.

Team Japan Ice Hockey
Team Japan just won the bronze medal in the Tier 1 International Ice Hockey tournament in Europe so will be promoted to play with the "big boys," like Canada, the USA and Russia. Japan is always exciting to watch with very fast and skillful players. If you get a chance to watch the Japanese national ice hockey team I encourage you to go!

The Nagano Cup is an Ice Hockey tournament, held annually at Nagano City`s Big Hat Arena. The was the huge arena used for the Nagano Olympics in 1998. I was fortunate enough to go and watch Team Canada play the USA. I even met Walter Gretzky! And the Canadian gold medal winning, women`s curling team sat behind me. Boy were they lucky to sit near me! The Asia Pacific Hockey League was created to raise the level of ice hockey across Asia by providing a framework for development through a combination or regularly scheduled games and specific hockey training. The games will be played in tournament format in events scheduled
