Japan Earth Quake

Japan Earth Quake - the results of liquifaction

Japan Earth Quake - Some of my Japanese friends have said, that if more people in Japan and more people in Tohoku, knew how to speak English well and communicate with non-Japanese, the rescue and relief efforts up north would have beenbetter, and gone more smoothly.

My own brother Graham, a doctor was thinking of going up north. But theCanadian authorities were saying there was not much point as there werenot enough translators.

I admit I am biased. I own an English School in Minamiashigara City, and I teach English at Tokai University. That said, I do feel that more Japanese need to learn English very well, and feel that the present levelof English hurts Japan economically and even during a major disaster.

I feel very, very sorry for the people up north. I hope that we canall learn something from this, and make Japan a much better place.

“Make a specific effort to remove violent input from your life. The newspapers and news reports that attempt to titillate your curiousity about hostility and malignant hatred by filling you with endless reports take you away from your peace. Turn away from these sources and each time you hear these reports, remember that for every act of inhumanity to man, there are a thousand acts of kindness.”

–Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Japan Earth Quake - Radiation Danger!?

In spite of upgrades to Chernobyl status at Fukushima, and in spite of news reports that spout gloom and doom, would you believe that things are gettingbetter at Fukushima?

Getting better doesn`t pay the bills. The bills get paid by death, destruction and terror.

Things improving is rather boring for our millions of years old human psyche. We like God that is terrible. Sure glad it wasn`t me!

That is what pays the bills at CNN, Fox, CBC, or name your favorite station or newspaper.

Japan Earth Quake - Sensationalized headlines pay the Bills

Sure it has been upgraded to Chernobyl status and I credit the government for doing that–being responsible as it has reached that point.

Are you in danger in Tokyo? NO!!!!!

Are you in danger in Saitama? NO!!!!

So are you in danger in Vancouver or New York?

Again No!!! If you are within 30kms of the nuclear power plants, that is not a great place to be.

But outside of that, you are probably safe. I feel very safe where I am. I am not worried for my children.

And seriously if you are worried for your children and you live in Vancouver, or New York or LA, get some counseling.

I mean no disrespect by saying the above. But I just think that you are not putting things into perspective. And you are naiveabout nuclear fallout and nuclear power. And why should you be an expert on it? Few of us are.

I am not either, but being where I am I have become somewhat of an expert by reading all that I can from various sources – yes evenCNN, and yes even Fox News (for a chuckle, and to get more comedy ideas!)

Live your lives! You have more chance of getting hit by a bus today (nice thought I know), than killed from nuclear fallout.

That said, it has been stressful for me, trying to learn how to keep my family safe. But I have found through my research that we are safe.

And if we are safe, if you live abroad, you are really safe! Chin up! Enjoy your lives.

Dr. Robert Gale an American Nuclear Power Expert who spent years working in Chernobyl, is now advising the prime ministers office directly, on Safety Measures for Japan during the present crisis:

Gale states:

They, the (nuclear power plant) workers I know feel that they're not getting enough information. There isn't time to give them a course in radio-biology," Gale said. He said the health risks have been overblown and that includes those working inside the reactors.

"I don't think they are at extraordinary risk unless something goes wrong," Gale said.

He said it would be extremely unlikely that a percentage of the Fukushima workers would come down with unusual rates of cancer years from now.

Japan Earth Quake - No Chernobyl Here!

"Japan’s nuclear crisis is no Chernobyl despite its new ranking, a famed New York physicist said Tuesday. Still, its threat level upgrade – from 5 to the maximum 7 like Chernobyl – should be a wakeup call. “It’s incorrect to say that it’s on the same level as Chernobyl,”

--Japanese-American physicist Michio Kaku

Chernobyl

Even during the 20 year period during and following Chernobyl, the people nearby that disaster, who were exposed to most of that radiation, got far less than the Health Canada exposure limit of 100mSv over 5 years.

Japan Earth Quake - The Answers are in the Scientific Figures

It is tough figuring all these figures but it appears to me that the Chernobyl victims received about 2.2 – 7.5mSv over five years,or far less than the standard by Health Canada allows!

Fukushima is not Chernobyl!

As I have stated countless times now, and many, many qualified nuclear experts have too.
