There are so many kinds of food in Japan. The supermarkets are full of healthy food, as the Japanese diet is one of the world`s healthiest, and the Okinawan diet is arguably the healthiest on the globe. Soy and Cancer One of the benefits of living in Japan is the availability of one of the world`s healthiest foods, soy! Japan is one of the leading soy producers of the world and you can eat it in so many different forms: as a bean which is often eaten as a vegetable with dinner, or even as a snack with beer.
Japan is expert at producing soy products.
Food in Japan: What can you get, and where can you get it? Of course Japanese supermarkets are great and you can get most of what you need from them. They are very clean, well run and the prices are not bad, once you start making your salary in yen. (Pictured: Matsushima Bay) Food in Japan - How to make Miso Soup? MISO - the chicken soup of Japan You can of course just buy instant miso soup at any supermarket in Japan and it is still very healthy and convenient. You just put the miso and sea weed paste into a bowl and mix the miso into the water after it has been boiled. It tastes good! - not as good as fresh of course, but it is more convenient. At first I didn`t like miso soup with its strong smell and taste. However knowing it was healthy, caused me to give it a
chance.
How to make Green Tea - one of Japan`s many gifts to the world. I`ve been drinking Japanese green tea for over 20 years and it is very healthy! Dr. Andrew Weil reports that it is a great source of catechins which are antioxidants that inhibit cancer. I drink greentea everyday at work. Green tea is one of the benefits of
living in Japan.

Shiitake Mushrooms
Another great reason to live in Japan is fresh shiitake mushrooms. They are very different from their dried version and you will be surprised by the difference in taste.Try them with pea pods, grains or fish.
